Choice Questions
— это вопросы, предлагающие на выбор несколько вариантов ответа. Они состоят из двух частей, которые соединяются союзом ‘или’ (or).
Если вопрос не относится к подлежащему, то требуется полный ответ:
- Does she like ice cream or sweets? – She likes ice cream.
- Where would you go, to the cinema or the theatre? – I would go to the cinema.
- Is he a teacher or a student? – He is a student.
Если вопрос относится к подлежащему, то ответ может быть коротким:
- Does she make it or do you? – She does.
- Did they buy that house or did she? – They did.
Как задать Choice Question?
- Есть несколько способов задать вопрос с выбором собеседнику:
Would you like – Вы бы хотели…?
- Would you like to live in the country or the city?
Would you rather – Вы бы скорее…?
- Would you rather have beauty or brains?
If you could choose, would you like to – Если бы вы могли выбрать, то вы хотели бы…?
- If you could choose, would you like to have wealthy or well known?
Special Question
- Можно дать выбор через специальный вопрос:
Which is better tea or coffee?
Yes/No Questions
- Are cats better than dogs?
Или предложить выбор через специальный вопрос со сравнительной степенью (better/worse/faster/cheaper и тд):
- Is it better to earn lots of money in a boring job or a little money in a job you
- absolutely love?
- Is it better to be a king in Hell or a slave in Heaven?
